HOW IT STARTED

From Frustration to a New Way to Work

The idea for Detour began during the pandemic, when one founder realised how deeply work depends on environment and human connection. Later, while working remotely and travelling, the other struggled to find welcoming, accessible places to work. Existing apps and searches offered little help, revealing a simple truth: the challenge wasn't demand, it was connection. Across cities, many spaces already exist: cafés, coworking hubs, hotels, and creative environments, yet remain underused during the workday. Detour unlocks these places, making flexible workspaces easier to find, easier to use, and more human for everyone involved.

WHAT IT IS

Work Without Boundaries

Detour is a flexible remote-working platform that connects people with inspiring places to work, from cafés, hotels, coworking spaces, and creative venues, all through one simple, credit-based system. Built for freelancers, hybrid workers and modern teams, Detour gives people the freedom to work productively wherever suits them, without being tied to a single office or long-term contracts.

Looking Ahead

Building a More Connected Way to Work

Detour is designed to make work more accessible for individuals, teams, and organisations, helping people find environments where they can focus, connect, and work at their best. As the network grows, more spaces, communities, and opportunities become connected, creating a flexible layer of work across cities.

Our ambition is simple: to make great places to work accessible wherever people are, building a global network that supports a more human, flexible, and connected future of work.
